A very merry Christmas

 Hello my loves,

I cannot honestly believe that in 9 days it will be Christmas, seriously where did this year go? I have to say I am so ready for the year to end. It's been a long roller coaster of a bugger. So I was on YouTube and saw this tag by Mischievous and I thought I would do it because I wanted a Christmassy post so here goes.

1. Favorite Christmas Movie?

For the past four Christmases it became a bit of tradition that we would watch a Muppets Christmas Carol, I have to say it really is my favourite. I think it's such a fun movie because it has Miss Piggy and well, she's hella fun right?

2. Are you on the Naughty list or the Nice list?

Well I think I am on both, I'm a naughty but nice girl. Lol. I've had a real humdinger of a year and I do think that I deserve a nice time with lots of treats.

3. Show us an embarrassing Christmas Card photo!

I have never done this, this is an American thing to do. I don't send Christmas cards out anymore, I just think it's a waste of ink and paper.

4. Have you ever had a White Christmas?

When I was about 9 we did have one and last year we had one. I love white Christmases, I think they're very romantic.

5. Where do you usually spend your holiday?

I used to spend it with my husbands family but this year I'll be spending it at my mum's boyfriends mum's house.

6.Play or Sing your favorite Christmas Song!

Christmas songs grate on me, I do like Mariah Carey's "All I want for Christmas" though.

7. Do you open any presents on Christmas Eve?

Nope.

8. Can you name all of Santa's reindeer?

I could google it but that would be cheating wouldn't it? I don't actually know them, I used to know them all.

9. What holiday tradition are you looking forward to most this year?

Just getting drunk and eating a ton of food :-)

10. Is your Christmas tree real or fake?

Ok, don't shout, but I don't have a tree up this year. Being the first one on my own I'm not really feeling it, next year I will be though.

11. Hands down, what's your all-time favorite holiday food and holiday sweet treat?

I love lots of stuffing, sage and onion stuffing is one thing I could eat all the time. My favourite sweet treat is Yule log YUMMMM oh buddy that stuff is amazing.

12. Be Honest: do you like giving gifts or receiving gifts better?

I like to give gifts, I don't expect anything this year. Obviously likes receiving gifts but I don't think it's right to expect them.

13. Show us your tackiest Christmas attire (ex: Ugly Sweater)

Hand on heart I actually don't have anything. I am too school for cool and just don't wear them.

14. What would be your dream place to visit for the holiday season?

I would love to go to NYC for New Years. I'd love to go ice skating where they have that big rink and watch the ball drop in Times Square.

15. Does your family have a special holiday recipe you like to help make?

Nope.

16. Are you a pro-present wrapper, or do you fail miserably? 

I am actually pretty decent at wrapping presents, I've had lots of practice lol.

17. Most memorable Holiday moment?

A few years ago I got something for my mum's boyfriend and I put it in a massive box and had smaller boxes to reveal this really cool gift. His face when he saw the big present was a picture and when he saw the end thing he looked out of breath haha.

18. What made you realize the truth about Santa?

I don't actually remember, I wish I could go back to being that innocent and believing in Santa because everything was just perfect back then.

19. Do you make New Years Resolutions? Do you stick to them?

I always say I'm going to lose weight and don't but this year I actually did. I've lost 3 stone whoop.

20. What makes the Holidays special for you?

It used to be exchanging gifts with my ex and being so in love but now I'm kind of over it. I'm sure I'll be like that again but for now I'm a bit of a Grinch.

First of all I'd like to register my disgust at the fact that it is September, UGH IT'S GOING TO BE CHRISTMAS SOON, yeah I said it lol.

I've seen this tag going around YouTube and some blogs and I thought it was quite a good tag and I wanted to do a post but couldn't decide what I wanted to write about, the lovely Rachel tagged me in her post and voila I had a new tag to do. So enjoy and I'll try and see if I can think of a few people to tag to do this.

#1. What's a nickname only your family calls you?

My mum calls me Doy, when I was young I couldn't spell my own name and I would spell it as Doy. I'm special lol. I'd understand if JOY was a hard name to spell but whatevs lol.

#2. What's a weird habit of yours?

While eating a sandwich I like to pick off the crust of the bread and leave it in a pile so I can it all afterwards.

#3. Do you have any weird phobias?

Yes, I have a phobia of wet wood. It makes me want to be sick.

#4. What's a song you secretly LOVE to blast and belt out when you're alone?

I like to blast stuff out whether I am alone or not lol. I'm not ashamed of my music taste lol.

#5. What's one of your biggest pet peeves?

I hate it when people make excuses, if you don't want to talk tell me I'm a big girl.

#6. What's one of your nervous habits?

I scratch my neck or play with my bangle. If you see me and my neck is patchy, I'm in a nervous and anxious mood.

#7. What side of the bed do you sleep on?

I don't have a side now that I am all alone in it.

#8. What was your first stuffed animal and it's name?

Comfy, she's a polar bear with tartan paws, I got her for my first Christmas and I still have her. My mum and dad got me a clown for my first Christmas but it turned out to not be me friendly so they took it back and bought me comfy.

#9. What's the drink you ALWAYS order at the Starbucks?

I don't go to Starbucks often, but when I do I like caramel frappuchino.

#10. What's the beauty rule you preach.. but never ACTUALLY practice?

Have patience. I'm always saying have patience and practice makes perfect, and this is true but I get annoyed at myself. I'm just the type of person that gets annoyed if something doesn't look great the first time lol.

#11. Which way do you face in the shower?

Towards the wall which is where the shower head is, but I never stand still for long so I usually end up dancing around and facing everywhere lol. What a strange question though.

#12. Do you have any 'weird' body 'skills'?

No, but I'd like one.

#13. What's your favorite 'comfort food'/food thats 'bad' but you love to eat it anyways?

Cupcakes, lemon drizzle ones.

#14. What's a phrase or exclamation you always say?

"You have twisted my melon" I do not know why, I just find it funny and it's one of those sayings that can be said when I am angry, confused or just happy.

Hello my loves,

I saw this tag on YouTube and thought it would be fun to share my pet with you guys. I'm constantly talking about my cat and I thought she deserved a blog post of her own, because she's just awesome.

Questions:

1)What is your pets name?

Sophia, I didn't pick it and it seemed daft to change it as she's used to it, although, I think cats would respond to idiot if you say it in a cutesy way lol.

2) What kind of pet is it and what breed?


She's a kitty I'm not sure of breed if I'm honest.

3) How long have you had your pet friend?


8 Months

4) How did you get your pet?

I've always wanted a cat or a puppy since ours died but my dad didn't want to get a new cat or dog because he was getting older and didn't really want to walk the dog or have another selfish kitty lol. Then when he died and my husband moved in he said no too. His work colleague was getting rid of her because Vanessa had just had a baby and my cat was becoming really jealous and wanting attention, I mentioned the RSPCA to him and he looked at her pictures and fell in love and said ok I could have her

5) How old is your pet?


I think she is 4

6) What are some quirky things about your pets personality?


I've never met a cat who loves to be brushed, she absolutely loves it. She rubs up against the brush and just cannot get enough of it. 
When I drop something on the floor or throw something for her to play with she jumps from wherever she is to go grab it. 
She can play football, lol I rolled up some paper that came in a package I had bought and chucked it for her and she ran after it and started using it as a football.
She has this toy fish, and she cuddles it and makes it feel all special and then attacks, poor fishy lol.

7) What does your relationship with your pet mean to you?

This is going to sound pathetic but everything. While I've been going through a tough breakup she's always made me smile. I didn't think she would take to living on her own with me because she always seemed to be all for him but she loves me now.


8) What are some of your favorite past times with your pet?

When we first got her she was just so timid and scared of everything she hid under the bed and only came down when we went to sleep. But the second night she came down and was shy but wanted to play rock band with us.

9) What are nicknames that you call your pet?

1. How did you get your user name?

My ex husband gave it to me, I'll not go into it. I want to change it but I don't see the point now.

2. If you could change your name to anything, what would it be and why?

Regina Phalange talks makup 24/7 :-) For all you Friends fans you'll understand the Regina Phalange part and I always talk about makeup it seemed fitting lol

3. If you could go back in time and give your younger self advice, what would it be and why?

Apply yourself at school and college, do a course that you know you will be able to get a job in and travel!

4. How old were you when you first learned to blow a bubblegum bubble?

7 lol no, I don't actually know

5. What did you want to be when you were little?

Oh god tons of things,  I wanted to be a air hostess so I could travel and get paid for it, I wanted to be an actress, I wanted to be a rich filmmaker! Funnily enough, I never wanted to be a doctor or anything involved with blood!

Caramel frappuchino with cream and caramel on top

I laugh all the time, it's just me. I couldn't pick one time

Hair Tag: 21 Questions

Hello my loves

I love talking about hair, I don't just obsess over makeup I'm versatile lol. When I saw this tag I thought it would be perfect for me to do, because it's questions about my hair. I borrowed it from the lovely Cas from Hair and Beautylicious


1. Why did you start taking better care of your hair? 

I've always been good to my hair (ok so I don't condition it but that's just because it makes my hair greasy and weighs it down) I did use to use tons of heat on it, which I stopped doing a few years ago. I dye it but I am better at that now to, last year I actually spent most of the year not dying it.

2. What are your 2 favorite products?

Just a generic shampoo and my macadamia nut hair mask.

3. Who's hair did you admire as a child? 

This is going to sound strange, there was this woman who used to see on the bus everyday coming home from school, she had gorgeous long brown hair and it always looked so soft and shiny I once 'accidentally' touched it haha. I always wanted hair like Britney Spears, until she went cookoo and shaved it.

4. What is your ultimate goal length? 

I would love to have hair down to my lower back.

5. How are you going to celebrate when you reach it?

Knowing me cut it off, lol. I don't know, maybe do a dance?

6. Two styles you want to try at your goal length?

I want an extra long fishtail plait (I'm obsessed with fishtail plaits) and I'm not sure about the other.

7. Which do you prefer: Health or length? 

Health, if your hair is healthy it will lead to length

8. Which do you prefer: Hair ties with no metal parts, or butterfly clips? 

Hair ties, sometimes I get so hot and need to get my hair off of my neck

9. What products do you prefer: salon brands, organic brands, BSS brands or drugstore brands? 

Drugstore, I don't believe in spending lots of money on shampoos.

10. Which product/technique do you think is over-rated? 

Back combing.

11. Which product/technique do you think is under-rated? 

I'm not sure if this is the right answer, but, I think trimming your hair. I know you think if "I keep trimming it it won't grow" but believe me it really does work, it gets rid of the damaged ends which makes it healthier. If you go for a trim every 8weeks you don't have to have inches off just tell the hairdresser you want the ends tidying. You'll notice a change.

12. What is your favorite part of your hair regimen? 

I like doing hair masks, I put it on and then I have about 8minutes of dancing and singing in the shower. It's fun

13. What is the most annoying part of your hair regimen?

I don't think there's anything I don't like. My routine isn't hard to do. I wash it, use my hair mask and then leave it to towel/air dry, simples

14. Oils or butters?

I think butters, my hair has enough of it's own oils

15. Bun or ponytail? 

A messy bun

16. Wig or weave (or neither)?

Erm, neither.

17. What is your opinion on growth aids? 

I doubt they work, if the hair follicle is damaged it just won't grow. I think it's just something that makes people feel better about themselves.

18. What length do you consider long? 

Passed the collarbone

19. When was the last time you went to a salon? 

Today

20. What do you like to surf the most: youtube channels, personal blogs or hair forums? 

I used to be obsessed with YouTube, but I think blogger has stolen my heart.

21. And finally, what piece of advice would you give to someone just starting out their hair journey? 

Be good to it, don't wash it everyday try and leave it a couple of days between, if it gets greasy use dry shampoo. Do not brush it whilst wet. Have regular trims. Don't use heat all the time, you can achieve cute curls by plaiting your hair while wet. It's all common sense really, use heat a protector just be kind to it and you'll be fine.

1.) Would you rather lose all of your mascaras, eyeliners, lipsticks, and lipglosses or lose all of your palettes and eyeshadows?

This is the worse question ever, OK, can I tweak it? I don't use lipstick or lipgloss that often so I wouldn't be so bothered about losing them. However, if you put eyeshadow on your eyes and don't use mascara you're going to look a little odd. I would say my palettes with a eyeliner in ha ;-)

2.) Would you rather chop off all your hair or never be able to cut it again?

Never cut it again, we have kirby grips and elastics so I can always wear my hair up

3.) Would you rather have a coral cheek or a pink cheek?

Pink

4.) If you had $1000 to spend, Would you rather buy clothes or makeup?

Clothes, I think for now I have enough makeup
 

5.) Would you rather apply lipstick as eyeliner, or eyeliner as lipstick?

Ooh strange, lipstick would create a cool look on my eyes

MAC, we don't have Sephora here

Haha, sharpie them in everyday. I do not trust people with no eyebrows it looks odd, you need something to frame your eyes otherwise you just look like you have a huge forehead (I'm sorry if that offended anyone)

Sharing the love.

Hello my loves :-)

I hope you're having a really nice weekend.

This blog post is unbeauty related, I'm just going to start writing and not really what know what I am going to say. I'll warn you, it's going to get soppy lol :-)

Recently it hasn't all been peace and cupcakes for me, I was battling through a hard time and am soon to be divorced. But that's not really want I want to talk about. I have far better things to talk about.

With all that going on, I'm actually happy. I've found happiness with someone else. He's the perfect guy and older he's just phenomenal, he's too sweet my teeth hurt when we talk lol and people may think it may be too soon as I'm 'grieving' for my marriage but I'm not. There's also the fact that if someone new comes into my life I don't exactly want to let him pass me by without trying. I've done my crying and I'm so beyond ready. 

I like waking up and know I have him around for me. He makes me feel so warm and fuzzy inside :-) soppy chuff I am lol. I'm a believer that love doesn't strike once. If I fall in love with someone and it ends badly, I can say I tried. I'll still be me and still be ready to kiss the next frog because who knows, that frog could be my prince and he could be the one who settles me down. I'm a good person and I know I can be happy and I can make someone else happy. Everything happens for a reason and a wise man told me 'when one door slams in your face, a window of hope opens'

Anyhow there's only so much I can say about him before he gets bigheaded lol.

Aside from my new found happiness, I have had so many doors open to me. I can finally go back to college, I'm finally getting my social life back and through my first blogsale, I've met some lovely girls. It's nice to have all these people that share my passion for fashion and makeup.

I want to say to everyone who reads my rambles, thank you so much for reading. It means so much to me that people in so many amazing places around the worl want to read me. I couldn't be happier with where my blog is going. I'm finally pulling in the readers and I have 22 followers, its huge to me. 

You are all so special to me and I love talking to you guys and writing about stuff I love to get you guys interested. I'm stoked that I've reached over 5000 all time views, it's just such an amazing feeling for me. I'm grateful more than any of you could EVER know.

My makeup story :-)

I hope you're all ok :-)

I spotted this tag on a blog I was reading and thought it would be fun to share. I love to read peoples stories and wanted to share my own, enjoy and here goes :-)

How old were you when you started wearing makeup?  

When I went to secondary school everyone looked like two bit you know whats, so I started wearing this cream shimmer eyeshadow and mascara. My parents never limited me on makeup I was always allowed to wear it unless I went too crazy.

 

How did you get into makeup?  

I’ve always been obsessed and would buy stuff I wouldn’t really need but for the past two years I’ve gotten in to it more. I want to go college and learn it and hairdressing professionally. I think it’s fun to be creative.

What are some of your favourite brands?  

MAC,  L'Oreal, Wet n Wild, Maybelline, MUA, Sleek and Barry M.

 

What does make-up mean to you?  

Makeup is something I can hide behind, when I don’t feel so happy I can go up to my room and play around with it. I don’t trowel it on, I think it’s nice to have my skin showing I embrace my pink cheeks and my milk white skin. I love makeup but I can live without it.

 

If you could only wear 4 products on your face what would they be? 

Gel liner, some sort of lipgloss, eyeshadow and lipstick.

 

What is your favourite thing about makeup?  

My favourite thing is learning it, once you know makeup you can do anything. You can freelance or even work in an awesome shop or on a counter. Making people feel better with a little makeup would make my day

 

What do you think about drugstore makeup vs high end makeup?  Obviously high end in some instances can be better but as I search and search through my makeup I realise that it doesn’t always have to be MAC etc, I’ve found a ton of dupes today. I guess if you have the money it’s not my place to say something but I cannot get my head around the fact that some people splurge and spend £30 for a blush. I love the feeling going around Superdrug and Boots and coming home with a bag full of goodies knowing I can get all of that for one thing at Dior or wherever. Budget makeup is not so bad. I hate people who brag, “Oh I got a new Chanel nail polish today” there is my take on it.

 

What is one tip of advice you can give to a beginner?  

My advice to beginners is to start off with drug store brands and gradually upgrade after mastering the technique of applying it correctly. I also advise, don’t be so upset if you try a winged liner or smokey eye and it doesn’t look amazing first time round. If you stick with it and try and try you’ll get there, no one can be perfect straight away :-).

 

What is one makeup trend you never understood?  

Nude lips, yeah I really do not like nude lips. I actually think they silly why would you want to look dead? I’m not really fussed, just because I don’t like it doesn’t mean someone else shouldn’t

 

What do you think of the Beauty Community on Youtube/Blogger?  

I started watching YouTube videos a few years ago and I think it was better back then when people didn’t review stuff just to make money. I hate reading/watching reviews that’re sponsored because it’s obvious they are just saying all the good things to get us to spend money. I prefer to read blogs that aren’t like that, I have very little money now I’m on own and I’m going to treat myself to something I’d like to know both pros and cons. I doubt I’ll ever be sponsored but if I ever was, I’d be honest from the start. I know “If you don’t have anything nice to say don’t say anything” but if I can save someone some money then I’ll slag it off. I’m not scared lol

 

Who is your style icon?  

Ok, being honest, I don’t have a style icon. I don’t like to follow trends, I like to wear what I want to wear and I usually like fashion once it’s gone out fashion. I want to be me and not look like everyone else because that’s boring. However, I love the whole pinup look.
